Help! My cats aren't eating!

I have two cats, both boys and they are brothers. They've never been apart in their life which would be about 4 years. One of them drank some bleach water we had in the sink and his mouth is enflamed. We have him on three different pills and have to force feed him. He keeps trying to eat but he hates canned food and his mouth is too sore for dry food. His brother has also stopped eating. At first we thought it was seperation anxeity because his brother spent two days at the vet. When his brother got back he still won't eat AND any time he sees his sick brother he hisses and runs. Also to add to it, the hissing brother just threw up. So now one is poisoned, both are throwing up, both aren't eating, and my parents are having them put to sleep tomorrow if the vet can't help us, which pretty much means they're gone. Anyone have any solutions?

I'm trully sorry to hear about your cats. :(
For the sick one, if he won't eat the canned food, you could try soaking his dry food in warm water to make it softer and easier to eat. I think its also possible that his mouth is just too sore to eat anything at all regardless of what you offer. The throwing up could be a side effect of the meds, the pain he is in or the sudden change in food.
Its not unusual for a cat to hiss at another cat (even though they have previously gotten along great and have lived together for years) after a vet visit. The cat returning from the vet is ridden with new and unfamiliar smells that the other cat does'nt recognize. It may take a little time for him to get re-adjusted to the other cat...the amount of time will depend on the individual cat. The other cat throwing up and loss of appetite is likely due to stress from everything that is going on...especially the unfamiliar smells on the other cat.
I personally don't think there is any reason to get the cats put to sleep from what you describe but discussing these problems with your vet is a good idea. I think that both cats will be just fine in a matter of time assuming that the cat that ate bleach recovers. What did the vet say about recovery time?

Well, that sounds all right, but he now refuses to eat anything. He noses the food then leaves. We know the cat is throwing up because of ulcers in his stomach. I don't know what is happening with his brother. Thank you for your help.

Is the ulcers from the bleach water he drank? I don't know much about things like this, but the ulcers will probably heal, won't they? So I don't see any reason why he should be put too sleep. I think you should give both cats more time to heal and recover. Has the brother cat been to the vet as well?
I hope everything turns out fine :y_the_best:

I would, but it isn't my choice.
Also, the first cat, Shailamar, who drank the bleach, has eaten dry food today. His brother Clawd, now must weigh around 5 pounds and he usually weighs 14. Tomorrow morning we are taking him to the vet and getting him the medicine that Shail has! I'm so glad we aren't putting them to sleep!

Good to hear that Shailamar is eating dry food! Hopefully Clawd will do the same too! Best wishes for your babies
