My dog's underside has what seems like rashes

My dog's underside (mainly armpits and under his lower legs) has numerous little dark/brown marks on him. At a glance the marks look like scabs but there not. I cannot scrap them off so they're not scabs. He no longer urinates in his cage so I want to rule out his piss giving him rashes (meaning he lays on his own urine). I'm guessing it's an alergic reaction. he's a mostly white dog so it's very noticeable. if you can give any insight i'd appreciate that.

You should have your vet check them. I just went through a situation just like you described with my own dog. He had a bacterial infection.

 

That sounds gross, I have heard that white dogs are genrally more prone to skin stuff (form like fleas and ticks to bacteria) is this true? Or is it just easeir to see on them?

 

Yes, white dogs seem to be more prone to skin problems.

 

take him to teh vet. ranger had something like that, but his were red and brown, and he was getting them everywhere! his brown ones were scabs, but i couldn't scape them off either, you could only tell if you noticed a fresh one. he had a food allergy and was getting them where you described and his neck and ears, the vet just gave him an antibiotic and it cleared up really quickly.

 

just got back from the vet. he said it's just skin allergies that are prone to short haired dogs. he said it's healing so i shouldn't worry about it. he said nothing else so i hope he's right.

btw just spent 260$ tonight for my dog's shots 1st distemper/bordetella/rabies/heartworm test which would've cost me roughly a little over 100$. got some sentinel heartworm tablets that cost me 171$ for 12. wow.

But just think' it'll get less expensive as time goes on. Try some of the mail order for the routine meds, like heart worm pills and stuff, it's usually less expensive. Just have your vet write out a perscription and mail it in. These things work pretty good.

 

one thing I did to reduce costs is I go to the normal vet to see what is wrong with the dog, like if ssomething is wrong, the dog is sick something or other, but then for routine stuff, like meds like flea stuff and heartworm stuff from the vet clinic, they only charge the actual price of the meds, not the jackes up price and they also don't charge for the visit. But I don't know how many places offer vet clinics like that, we have an excess of vet around here, we havee a huge vet school here.
But I do not trust the vet clinic guy when my dog is sick.
