Hi all. My 9 week old Westy seems to have to go potty all the time. He has been with us for 1 week and 2 days so far. We are using the crate method and are religious in taking him out and rewarding with a treat for a good potty. Sometimes when we bring him back in he pees on the floor 5 minutes later. Is this puppy being puppy or do you think he has a bladder issue? It seems like I live outside walking him.

How often are you taking him outside? Do you make sure he goes when you are out there? If he is peeing all the time - not just standing outside messing around and stalling - then it is possible he has a bladder infection. You can hold a container under him when he goes and bring it to the vet for testing. If you can't get it to the vet right away, cover it and refrigerate - might want to label it just for fun, though. :)

He should be able to wait more than 30 minutes between urinating, first I think you should have a vet check him to rule out any infections or other medical problems.
If all is okay there then I was wondering, how much does he urinate when he's doing it every 30 minutes? Is it just very small amounts? It can be a 'submissive' gesture, some dogs will urinate a little when you interact with them, especially just coming into a new home and he's still very young, most dogs will grow out of this (can happen with adult dogs also) as they become more relaxed with you and there are things you can do to at least decrease the frequency of it if not stop it altogether.
A general guide for when puppies need to urinate is:
    Just after waking up,
    After eating,
    After exercise,
    After playing and any excitement.
That said they should be able to go for an hour or 2 in between.
