Sarah is a long hair tabby..... she has just started losing large amounts of hair.... in patches.... she is continually licking herself..... and of course has now got a hairball probem as well.... is there anything I can do for her .... she is eating well and other than her hairloss she seems ok........ thanks for any help .....

Does she seem to be pulling the hair out herself or is it just falling out? Do you use flea meds on her? Tiddy pulled alot of his hair out a while back when he had fleas....the vet thought he might actually have a flea allergy.

or her thyroid could be hyperactive. A main sympton of hyperactive thyroid is hairloss. You won't be able to treat that at home. She would need a T4 blood test done and have to take one pill a day to regulate her hormone level. Hyperactive thyroid in cats is relatively common and extremely treatable. Could also be diabetes another thing you won't find a cheap home remedy for. Pets, like kids, do require medical care now and then.

PetroMalt will help with the hairballs about $7 at a pet store.

Could be stress. My foster is a furpuller and it's all stress related w/her. Bach's Rescue Remedy helps keep her calm that is about $16 at GNC or a natural food store.
Or a Feliway diffuser would also help and those are a bit pricy at approx. $30.
