My parents have a shitzu that constantly gets brown crusty goo in the eye cracks between the noze, I think this is fairly common in this type of breed.

Is there a remedy for it?

    thanks honeybear

is it like eye boogers? or soemthing else? because a while back I asked about eye boogers and I think people said it could be allergies or some change in foods or something I'll try to search to find that post.

My pekeapoo gets these as well. To tell you the truth, everynight. I sit on my bed and say "eyes" and she jumps up on my lap and I just pick them out with my fingers. If you do it everynight it isn't really that big of a deal. I just pick them throw them in a tissue and throw it away. I also have the groomer trim her hair short around her eyes and this seems to help as well.

This is something that needs to be cleaned on a daily basis, as often as needed. Food can be the main issue. I was talking with a gal in the store about her shih and she had the same problems. I asked what she fed it, Ole Roy. I said your kidding right. LOL She learned something new that day, before ole Roy it was Kibbles n Bits. Try a kibble for allergy suffereing dogs. California Natural, Natures balance are two. Theres more. No preservatives, added colors, bi-product, wheat or corn.

I have a shih-poo and I clean his eyes everyday with eye wipes from Wal-Mart of just a wet cloth. I then comb throught the area with a tight metal comb and it picks up all the dry crusty stuff.
