MARY NH - you called it - Thank you! I full allergy workup was done and Sunkist is highly allergic to DUST/DUST MITES and MOLD Mites. I do the best I can with the dust, cleaning lady and all but the mold I am going to have to get checked out. My Vet suggested I change the food because it may have wheat in it and that could be affecting him. So today I am going to pick up prescription food from the Vet. I have 4 other cats - I hope they like it too - sheesh. My Vet is ordering the allergy shots so we can start him on that and see if that helps.

Any suggestion about how else to treat these allergies?

    Thank you so much!
I am a Cat Lady with all Dog friends so this website really helps me.

what a sweetie...was strictly a guess but glad it was easy to diagnose  now the problem is controlling the environment. My Zeus has allergies too, not sure to what, but now and then his flair up

Invest in an ionic air cleaner to control dust and mold in the air. I know they can be expensive, but you'll be amazed at the difference it makes.

You can also put hepa filters on your furnace to reduce dust and mold spores...and change them regularly! Check your furnace thermostat...there should be a switch that will turn on the blower without turning on the heat, and you can use that in warm weather to move air through the filters and remove dust particles. If your thermostat doesn't have a 'fan only' switch, you can purchase one and either install it yourself or have it installed professionally.

Another thing you should do is put your kitty in a different room, with the door closed, when you vacumn carpets. Vacumns spew out a lot of dust, even the more expensive vacumns, with the exception of the Rainbow vacumns, which traps the dust in water.

Thanks Shineillusion - I have an Ionic Breeze in my bedroom and I think it works but it makes my room chilly and he is not fond of that. I did notice that on the days I vacuum he does sneeze more - thanks for the suggestion of putting him in another room. I will look into putting a filter on my gas burner. I have radiators so I am not sure how that'll work but I will surely look into it. My Vet suggested that I put Sunkist on a precription food diet - IVD dry and wet food - something about the wheat in the food purchased in stores having mold spores - is that true? and will it work?

    Thanks again
