When I was a teenager, we moved into an apartment on the 8th story of a highrise in Edmonton... Our country cat clearly missed the wide open spaces...

She began racing around the house, taking particular delight in skidding across the kitchen floor on the throw rug in front of the sink. She would go the other direction the next time...

One day she skidded across the floor... Got traction on the rug at the other end... Flew throught the living room and leapt through the eight inch space where the balcony door was open.

Our hearts stopped... That balcony is what...? Three feet across...? We all screamed and ran to the window, to see her flicking her tail irritatedly, as she stood halfway through the bars of the railing that surrounded the corner balcony... :m29:

She stopped our hearts this way more than once. We'd finally quit worrying about this, when we awoke one morning to find that the cat was not in the apartment, but was in fact downstairs at the front door of the apartment building. To get there through the regular channels... She would have to go through our locked apartment door, the hallway door... Use the elevator to get to the lobby where there are two locked exterior doors... Or the express route... Down 8 floors...? :-s

    [-o< :bow_now:

This same cat had previously ingested Stricknine Poisining (put out for mice), then developed phnemonia from the gross stuff the vet said to put down her - to make her bring up the poisin... And gone through the fan belt of a car another time.

She used every one of her nine lives I'm sure... And died a ripe old age.

There was a very Grassy and Bushy hill at the bottom of that eight floors...

Imagine seeing that go by your bedroom window in the moonlight...

    :?:  :?:
