My four year old male cat is so mean! He bites while you pet him and attacks your feet atleast three times a day. I've tried yelling, water, everything. He has become pretty dangerous. I've been seriously hurt by him a handful of times. He sneaks up behind you and bats at your face leaving deep cuts and bruises. I'm at a crossroads. Does anyone have any ideas as to what to do? Any medication? Please help, I don't want to put my kitty down.

    Hi there, and welcome.

You should definitely move this question to the cat board.

I can say that yelling and hitting (which you probably feel like doing when he hurts you) will only make a kitty more violent, not less.

Has he had all of his shots? Maybe the vet can recommend a distemper shot.

Did he have a previous owner before you? There could be a range of things that are making him this violent. If he is an adopted kitty that was rescued from some terrible home then it may stem from how he was treated before you got him.

Other than that all I can say it just shower him with love and when he goes to hit you do what I did with my kitty...hold his paws and talk to him like a baby while you kiss his little face. They seem to hate it but they learn that they can't hit their Mommies and Daddies.

i had a smilar prblem a while bk there are lots of diffrent thing sum ppl say blowing into there face coz they dont like that i found that if ur petting them look for the signs like the tail swishing which means they could attack or if u dont c the signs push them off ur lap and ignore them they soon learn that they dont get to sit on mommys cofy lap if they r mean kittys i hope this has helped

Does he have enough toys? He may be looking to play and not have an outlet.

Try getting him a stuffed animal thats about his size or just a little smaller. taunt him with it when he trys to swipe at you. Eventually he'll attack it instead of you. My vet recomended this to me and it's really helped.
