I thought it was an expose of the 'horrors' encoutered in the SPCA? I wrote them a nice little note letting them know that I"ll consider watching them again if they devote as much time to investigating puppy mills, backyard breeders of designer breeds, and cruelty in petstores.

    not just the average places

Cruelty to animals has many forms in many places. Not just at the local shelter, or the backyard breeder. There are still hundreds of companys just in the US that still conduct animal testing. I lived in s. Florida for awhile and thought I was landing a great entry level job as a lab assist. I had no idea what a Monoclonal Facility was, most of the people that read my resume still ask what it is. In truth it's a nice name for we test on cute little white lab mice. Mice were shipped in boxes that looked like apple packaging boxes divided by sex, injected with a liver oil produced by some fish then injected with cancer. While the cancer cells multiplied in their tiny stomaches they were kept in clear plastic containers no bigger then a shoebox 10 per box till they slowly died off. Meantime the cancer cells were drained from them by syringe. To make matters worse, their method of killing unwanted offspring should a mix-up of sexes happan was to put these mice (only weeks old) into
a sm. styrofoam cooler and gas them. The gas took all of the oxygen out of the cooler and the mice hopped around frantically trying to escape as they suffocated to death. I would like 20/20 to do a story on that.

Tina, you just gave me chills. It makes me sick to think about what happens to animals all over the world, every day.

I saw an 'animal assistant' position open in our local paper the other day. I perked up until I found out it is with one of our local medical facilities to assist in testing lab rats and other animals. I could never imagine witnessing what happens to all those poor lab animals.

I did see part of the 20/20 special and it wasn't what I thought it would be. I'm actually sad to think that the story probably gave a bad name to many reputable animal rescue organizations.

That, and... what did that story accomplish? They didn't step in to save any of the animals who were wrongly taken.

They didn't do anything but make people angry at rescue groups. (And I'm sure 99% of these groups are doing everything they can to help animals and not tear them from loving families).
