Hi there! I'm new here to the boards and have a question. I recently moved in with my finacee (Late May) and brought my Male cat with me. He has a female. They fought a lot in the beginning and seem to be getting better. they have big fights every now and then but most of the time it's just a bat at each other, other times its a hiss. Anyways, it's been almost two months that they have been with each other, is this normal for them to still fight a little? and do you have any advice as to getting them to stop and like each other? :D Thanks in advance!

it's possible they may never get along.....but 2 words Feliway Diffuser, which can be bought at most pet stores or pet supplies places online.
You'll need one for every room the cat(s) go into/hang around.
They also make a spray of the stuff you can spray into a room, but the diffuser releases the pheromones constantly. You can find them online and there will be an explanation of what they do for the cats. Best of luck....hope they stop quickly

    Welcome to the board.

Maybe in time they will get along better. Maybe try to keep them apart for a little while and then try to introduce them slowly. Maybe pet one with a towel and then pet the other with the same towel to let their scents combine so they will be more used to each others scent.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

I've heard it can be helpful to put a little vanilla essence on the base on both cats tails. That will cover their own smells, and maybe the "this-is-my-terrotory" instinct won't be triggered that easily.. I haven't tried it myself though. Good luck :y_the_best:

    Hi,

I had a male and female that fought a lot. It was mainly the male bullying the female, and I'm sorry to say that it lasted forever. But, my female just learnt to live around him, and knew he was 'boss'. I also had another male cat that I introduced very slowly into the house, and he just tried to take over - in my cat years I've found the males a lot more domineering than females.

I've just hand reared a male kitten, so it will be interesting to see who ends up in charge now, as I have a female 13 year old.

    Good luck with your two!

LOL that's what i would have thought...but...that's why my cat's name is romeo. he's a lover not a fighter. it's the female cat that is pushing him around. but she was there first, so we'll see how things turn out. we finally put their food and litter boxes in the same room so we'll see how that goes.
