Sheding out

Hi,
My mare has lived outside all winter in a run in shed and has had a blanket when it got below 15*F, but she is as hairy as can be! I am going to a show in a month, its an AA show, and she is still hairy anyone know how i can get a nice coat on her? Thanks Linda :wink:

I do curry her like 2X a day but the hair is long and not thick and it wont come out anymore it soo annoying! lol i have her on Corn oil too

 

Do you not want to clip her?

 

Not if i can avoid it. The show i am going to (st. clemonds) is in 3 weeks, and then she would look funky in the summer, and it is only in the 40s during the day so its cold in NY. Even if i kept her blanked she still would be cold, and it will warm up by then but then it would be a week away. i dont know someone help me!

 

I can't give you any advice now but next year, put the blanket on her sooner so she never gets that furry in the first place.

 

hehe, i never have that problem with my horses, weather here is always nice and warm. They do get a tiny bit of 'fuzz' as i like to call it, around november and december when its colder.

But like elizavixen said next year get the blanket on her sooner. good luck!

 

i find when i give my horse a bath then try to shed him out after that it works excellent. LOTS of hair comes out that way!
