I have a question about bettas

    I've seen this with my betta Sunrise. Sometimes when he gets mad he will have fins come out of his gills. Is that to make him look bigger?

    yea, thats pretty much it. like you said, when they feel aggressive or threatened they will flare their gills to look bigger, much like cobras do with their neck and like many animals stand on their hind feet.
