Why my cat is peeing all over the place?

Sup everyone, not sure if ya remember my g/f cat Morris(stray) a while back. Well, he just began to have a disgusting habit of peeing out of the liter box for some reason...I'd say like 3-4 times a week. He would pee mostly on her bed and couches. He wasn't like this before so what is happening to him and how can I make him to stop? She spank him a little bit on his butt, but he still kept on doing it. I wonder if he know what he's doing is wrong? His littler box is always kept clean and since her apartment is small, its very easy for him to get to the box.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, and if none of the advice work we will take him to the vet for a bladder exam.
    Thanks....

He could have a urinary tract infection. It's best you get him to the vet as soon as you can to rule that out. It's very painful.

It does sound like it could be a bladder infection. My kitty has had problems like that, too. I agree you should take your kitty to the Vet. The Vet can check what is wrong and tell you what to do.

From what I've read, when a cat all of a sudden starts doing that, it's a cry for help. Cats take urination very seriously (carefully covering it up, etc.) and when their usual behavior changes, it's a sign that something is wrong.

By the way, a cat should never be struck or "spanked" for any reason. They don't understand why it's happening, and are not able to connect it to the thing that they did "wrong." It will just lead to bigger problems, like their not being able to trust or feel safe around you anymore.

Welcome to my world lol. :D First you need to rule out an UTI or crystals and make sure you clean up his pee spots with an odor neutralizer. Even if you can't smell it, bet that he sure can.

After that, check out this site:http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Pointe/9352/litterboxhelp.html (did I post that right, Mary?)

There is some really good info there. And I've tried them all. Some seem to have worked but it's a daily struggle with me and Copper. :x Seems like once he had an issue with the box and then his urinary tract, the pattern was set and it's hard to break. But don't ever spank your cat. Like lunaguy said, it's usually a cry for help. And there's ALWAYS a reason, whether we perceive it as a real reason or not. Good Luck!
