hi, i have a puppy that is 12 weeks old and he is peeing blood. i have had him for 2 weeks. it is a shepard pup. it started out peeing a little spot of pee here and there. this was from day one. it was like he couldn't pee. now he still pees little spots, but it is almost pure blood. my question is has anybody else had this happen to them. i don't have the money to take him to the vet, would like to cure him if i could. i am worming him now for everything except but tape worms. if any one could help or have some info. please reply.... chickenman

He probably has a urinary infection. This would be quite painful for him and there is no "home remedy" as far as I know.
You really need to find a way to get him to a vet immediately.

You could try calling your local Humane Society and ask if they have or can recommend low cost Vet care. It does sound like something you won't be able to 'cure' yourself. You could also see if your vet will take payments on the cost of the visit.

Good luck and keep us updated on how it goes!

hope you aren't doing over the counter deworming meds cause if you are you're wasting your money - they don't work.
You can save yourself an office visit if you bring in a sample for fecal and urine testing...vet will prescribe meds from the sample and what is found.
BUT - a 12 week old puppy should see a vet anyway. There are vaccines needed at that age that are necessary if they haven't been given yet.
If you can't afford vet care you shouldn't have a pup.
Stuff happens....and it's cheaper and quicker to fix it early on that later when it's a crisis.
But you could save an office visit by taking in urine and feces and have those checked. An antibiotic is needed to clear up an UTI and they are painful and do need to be taken care of quickly before stones develop.
Could also require a change of diet.

thanks for the quick response's. i found a vet that did an exaime and gave me some anti-body's for 26 dollars. the cheapest one that i had found was like 90 bucks and their was no way i could come up with that kind of money this time of the month......and Mary i raise chihuahua's and i keep wormer at all times. i give all the shot's except rabies. and i keep plenty. this was my first. never had one to do this before. i take very good care of all of my kritter's. i just didn't know what to do and was looking for some help if i could get it. sometimes simple things like pumpkin or apple cider vineager cures illness and you don't have to run to the vet with a 15 dollar chicken or hamster. you know what i mean? you never know unless you ask. i'm not a newbie. i just don't have lot's of money. thanks all again. the vet said that the shepard would be fine in a few days. no bladder problems or anything else that he could tell. the vet told me that it was a good thing that i had not give him his shots yet. i have to wait two weeks. then when i get his 7 in 1's finished then he will give his rabies shot.......jesse

I'm sorry if you thought I was rude...but tons of people come onto pet boards looking for quick fixes for various ailments w/pets so they won't have to pay a vet - hard to sort out who is serious and who is just looking to get out of paying a vet for care. That's why I state that....My Shepherd has always been chronic with UTIs (she's 11 years old) and sometimes it involved blood in the urine, once stones. She always had to have antibiotics to get over her UTIs. Now I do give her cranberry supplements in her diet and she hasn't had a UTI since this past winter.
