Hey, my grandmothers 16 yearold cat sofie was put down 2 days ago, i found out today, her tumors had suddenly enlarged and were so big she could no longer eat or urinate, her house seems sorta empty now even though sofie mainly laid in her little scratch-post/hide-out.

I'm so sorry Obelix. Take comfort knowing that she went peacefully. My heart goes out to your grandmother, loosing a 16year companion must be really tough.

My grandmothers taking it really really badly, she really loved that cat and my grandfather doesnt do much of anything except sit on his computer now that hes older, its not exactly up-setting to me, just very very weird... like somethings missing that you cant put your thumb on but its defintially missing. Thanks for the support, we had lunch over their to try to perk her up.

It's wonderful that you can find time to go over to cheer her up. Does she have any other pets or will adopting another cat perk her up? She needs to be distracted right now. I feel for your grandma. I'm so sorry for her loss.

She has another cat named lisa, but I really cant see her adopting a new pet, shes rather phobic when it comes to a certain order and everythign must be in place or she gets upset, shes making a very unsual amount of jam and crocheting again so I think shes trying to distract herself which is good.

I'm sorry about your grandma's kitty. When my grandma lost her senior cat when I was a kid, she never quite got over it and has never had another cat since. I know how your grandma feels right now. It's so hard to lose one of our fur animals.

hi obelix...just wanted to give my condolences to your grandma. i lost my cat three months ago and he was almost twenty. i am sure it is very hard for your grandma. i have a book called When Your Pet Dies....maybe a book like that would help. sometimes reading that other people share similar feelings helps...like we have on the forum.

let her know she is in my thoughts and prayers...lynn, max, and otis in heaven...

Oh dear, please tell your grandma that we are thinking of her. To loose something that has been around for a very long time must be very hard to try and get over. Wish her my condolences.
