3wk old kitten and stray cat I saw today

My aunt recently decided to get a kitten and went to the Buffalo Animal Shelter to see what they had. On her way in or out she ran into a girl that was leaving with an adult cat and 3, 3wk old kittens. The girl was going to turn them in but the shelter was going to euthanize them so she decided to take them back home instead. I guess she found the kittens and had been hand feeding them ...the adult she found was not the mother. My aunt ended up taking one of the 3wk old kittens home and he is doing really well...he's about 5wks old now. He had really runny stool and she has taken him to the vet twice already but they could'nt find any parasites in his stool. They thought it might have been giardia. They put him on some meds and he seems to be doing a little better now. I finally stopped by on Friday to see him....what a cutie.
    Just thought I'd share.

Today I went to Mighty Taco and the drive through leads behind the building where there is a compactor and some dumpsters. Upon driving through the back I noticed a little cat digging in the dumpster so I pulled over and went towards him but he ran and hid under the compactor and cried loudly. I went back to the car wishing I had some cat food on me and then realized that I did...I was on my way back from picking up some Natural Balance so I had dry and canned food on me. I opened a can of the NB and set it on the ground in front of the compactor and went back to the car. The little cat came out and gobbled it up...he was so skinny. He had beautiful markings and reminded me alot of Lynn's Max. I think he was young maybe 6 - 8 months old. He kept talking to me even while he was eating but would'nt let me get near him. I felt so bad leaving without him but at least I was able to give him a healthy meal. Poor little guy.

Hi Nern. :D I'm glad your Aunt's kitty is feeling better. Does she have other cats? As for the stray, perhaps you could go there and feed him/her and perhaps be able to take it to a no kill shelter once it lets you get close enough? Or maybe a no kill shelter could be contacted and they could try trapping it? I know you already know all of this advice, so I'll just say I hope this kitty will be okay and perhaps he/she may soon find a forever home. There are so many stray fur animals all over the world, it's so sad, because most of them are not only hungry, but also in dire need of medical attention. :(

I was thinking that too but I don't think I'll be able to get back over there until the weekend as it was'nt very close to home and I have a feeling he will be long gone by then. There are woods back there too and I'm betting he was a feral.

It was really good that you gave the kitty a good meal. One can always hope he will find a good home. It's sad to see kittys out like that.
