A Few Quick Questions

OK I have two questions/problems. My dog loves the dog park but he always gets dirty. I wash him with Earthbath Aloe and Oatmeal shampoo. How often should i bath him? Whats the most i should a week?
Also when he runs arround the park the female dogs get him excited and he always gets dirt all over his penis and it wont retract. When he lays on the couch it gets the couch wet/dirty. What should I do?
one more thing. Today he was layin on his side/back and licking his sheath and all of a suddden he pee'd a lil on his chest/the couch. Not a lot like a full bladder's worth but enough to make a good sized stain. What could this be attributed to or is it just an accident. It was 4 hours since his last walk but usually he will do the "pee pee dance" or atleast cry if he needs to be let out.
    Thanks
    -Dan
Also ive posted here a few times and would like to thank all of you for your help

As far as bathing you shouldent do it too often. As it messes up the oils in their skin and fur. I bathe mine about once a month. When he gets dirty try wipping him down with a wet cloth or they make wipes for doggies.

As far as your other questions I am afraid I am of no help I only own females! I am sure someone will come along though.

Personally I don't think a dog should be bathed too often unless he's rolled in something smelly or has a really bad doggy odor. Dog odor can be controlled with just a good diet. Too much bathing can cause the natural PH balance in the skin to become unbalance and can become dry and flakey. My dogs are over a year old and they have had only maybe one bath a piece ever.

To control "Mr. Happy" at the dog park and at home on your couch, can be controlled by having your dog neutered.

There are these dog bath wipes at Petsmart that work quite well. I'm sure you could find them at other places to. I don't remember their exact name but they were in a little blue package.

As far as Mr. Happy - I have to say that neutering is not a sure fix b/c my dog was neutered 6 mos ago and Mr. Happy still makes frequent (daily) appearances. ?

When I use to take my Lab Winnie to the dog park everyday she would get so dirty. They had a hose located in the parking lot so I would just hose her off then towel dry her. When I got home I would spray her with that doggy colgne(sp?) stuff so she would smell good. I give her a bath about once a month unless she gets really stinky and gross somewhere else. Hope this helps.

There's not much you can do about Mr. Happy. Other than neutering him. Eliza~ Neutered dogs can take up to a year and a half to loose their "hormones" and "urges".

As far as bathing him. I would not bathe him more than once a month. The wipes are a good idea, or letting him swim in a pond, then towel drying him off.
