I have a friend in Tenn. with a sick pup she found. As soon as her hubby gets back from his all male trip she going to take him ( the pup ) to a vet ( she's looking for one right now ). Here's what I know so far ( I've made some suggestion that maybe wrong but I'm trying to help her out till then ).

Linda: What r u doing up so early!
misty_rose39: I'm up caus sick pup
    Linda: awwwwwww what's wrong
misty_rose39: poor thing very undernurished making himself sick because he is eating to fast and to much
misty_rose39: lil tiny thing about the size of lucky
Linda: only give him a small handful every 4 minutes till he's had his fill
misty_rose39: hmm now thats an idea
    Linda: how old is he
    misty_rose39: not sure
misty_rose39: am lucky to get him to quit shaking long enough to eat at this point
Linda: ok just a long shot here but get u some puppy formula and warm some up put it on his food ( make it soupy ) let him lap it up but don't make him to much ( doggy soup ) that he makes himself sick again
misty_rose39: he can eat regular food no problem
misty_rose39: but might be good idea for a little while just to get the nutrition into him
Linda: I know but there's extra nutrtion in the formula that he may be lacking
misty_rose39: lol i just said that
Linda: just till he's eating and not throwing it up
Linda: just a thought he may have worms
    misty_rose39: yeah possible
Linda: where did u find him
misty_rose39: out of yard after he scared sis out of her skin
misty_rose39: looked in poo nothing that could be seen yet anyway
Linda: they may be in there just not visible to the eye
Linda: do u have a low cost vet down there
Linda: if so give them a call and see about taking in a sample to have it checked and get him checked out too

misty_rose39: will have to look around
Linda: I'll post and see if I can get some more info for ya and when I do I'll IM u or send u an email
    misty_rose39: that would be great
Linda: till then give him lots of TLC talk to him just keep telling him that ur not going to hurt him show him ur not like the jerks that had him before u found him
    misty_rose39: trying to
misty_rose39: he has had almost constant attention since we pulled him out of rain
Linda: when you go to him and move ur hand does he cower like he thinks ur going to hit him
    misty_rose39: no
misty_rose39: just whimpers a little when i go to pick him up
misty_rose39: and whimpers and shakes when he is sleeping
Linda: does he have any spots that is sore where he may of been hurt ( hit )
    misty_rose39: nope
Linda: ok sounds like he wasn't physically abused but was abused in other ways
    misty_rose39: yeah

Ok that's all I know, is there anything else I can have her do to help the little guy. She says he's warm and when going to sleep will come close to her. When he whimpers she talks to him softly telling him he's ok now he's SAFE.

Needs to get the pup to a vet, theres too many things that could be guessed at but we could be here all day and still not get it right. VET ASAP.

Well just heard from my friend and he's eat just fine now ( not throwing it up anymore ). He's still whimpering but is calming down. She say's that he's got a vet appt in a week so I'll let ya all know what happens.

Sorry, but that's just plain silly to have a vet appointment in a week for a sick puppy. Is this your friends first pet?

There's no reason for such a long wait!
A sick puppy is very serious -- they can slip away within hours!

    Any updates?

No this ain't the first dog she had. She explained what was going on with the pup to the vet. The vet asked her a bunch of questions ( what they were I'm not sure ) and he told her that the puppy milk replacement would be fine mixed with the food to give it some added nutit. And since the pup is no longer throwing up and hasn't a fever to bring it in on the date given to her ( she's taking a poo sample in sometime today ) and if it gets worse to bring it in right away that he'd work it in.

UPDATE on my friends new puppy

The puppy ( she named Rosco P Coltrain ) is fine just malnurished. Test came back neg. for worms and heartworm neg. also. The vet said to keep giving him the puppy milk replacement for a few more weeks then wean him off it ( slowly dec. the milk over those few weeks ). Keep reassuring him that your not going to hurt him. Rosco ( the vet's not 100% possitive ) is about 2 months old lab/mix. When I hear anything new I'll post it.
