I think you are a dog groomer, right? I was at the vet yesterday and they had a shamoo that said it wont wash off advantage.

my parents get their dog groomed on a regular basis and recently it started itching a lot, I am wondering if the shampoo being used washes off the advantage and that she could have a flea problem.

do you use a certain soap thaht wash off teh frontline/advantage stuff?

    thanks

The shampoos we use are all formulated to be used with spot on products like Advantage or Frontline, and no, they won't wash it off.

If you're looking for a shampoo at your local pet store, Bio Groom makes shampoos that are safe to use with spot ons. Look on the lable; they should state that they can be used with spot ons. When in doubt, select a hypoallergenic shampoo. I think pretty much all of those will not wash off spot on products.

Usually itching after a bath is from shampoo residue left on the skin. You can use the vinegar/water rinse to be sure all residue is removed. Pay carefull attention to tummy and feet, especially between the toes and pads. Those are the areas most often bothered by shampoo residue.

Maybe she's just being washed too often?

she gets groomed about every 8 weeks, she is a shitzu, iposted a few weeks back about her really chewing her tail and licking her bum, that started abut 6 months ago. so I am trying to help to see if they can find the cause, I know occasionally my mom gives her baths too in between. she has been to a different groomer and still is scratching.

last year the vet did find one flea on her,, that is why I was wondering abut the shampoo
