    hi all..
i have a question about my male/5 months old cat (Max).., yesterday in the litter box, i noticed that his poop was kind of watery. and it smelled bad. usually it doesnt smell that bad. he is eating less than before, and drinking fine. could it be something he ate? should i take him to the vet...or maybe it is not that serious....?! :?
does stress cause that? because we moved recently
    any advice? :|

    thanks

here is pics of Max that i took right now, he has grown so much since 1 month ago :D

    hi....

Maybe it was something he ate which didn't agree with him.

Kitty (my cat, female, 9 months) sometimes gets runny poos, but the next day her poops are back to normal.

I guess if it continues take him to a vet...

I agree with Wildflower. You could also call the vet and ask for their opinion.
Max is adorable :D I love the white around his eyes :love_y_t_much:

I'd get a fecal exam done. There are some parasites a cat can harbor that don't "show up" unless a cat is stressed. Coccadia is one and that usually has runny stiinky poop.
My foster Dixie had a problem w/one shortly after I got her - the smell would knock you over. Can't recall which one it was right now but a treatment of pyrantel cleared it right up.
With moving and all you kitty might be stressed enough to have a problem w/it.
You could take a small amount of pooh to the vet for a fecal to be sure it's clear and then go from there

What a beautiful little kitty. I agree with everyone else.

Did you change his brand of food lately. Sometimes kitties can have trouble changing to another brand of food.

    Wow, he's growing so fast!

I would probably wait a few days and see if anything improves. He might have gotten into something, been stressed, or maybe something with his food. If nothing improves or gets worse, get a fecal exam done.

    :(
max threw up today, there was something moving in it..something long and flat..white colour. the vet says that it could be tape warm. and gave me 3 pills...one every 10 days. does anyone know more about it? and i have 2 kids, would they get that from the cat? and do i have to wash everything in case there is eggs on it.
i am scared..i just dont want my kids to get it..or my cat to get it again if there are eggs around the house..because the cat licks herself to clean the poo...and there could be eggs on it..and then she licks us...i dont know

    what do u guys think?

    thanks :?

I actually don't know about the cleaning... But you should give Max a worming every three months, especially if hes an outdoor cat. Hope he gets well soon :y_the_best:

i read somewhere that.. First, tapeworms eggs must be swallowed by flea larvae (an immature stage of the flea). Contact between flea larvae and tapeworm eggs is thought to occur most frequently in contaminated bedding or carpet. The life cycle of the tapeworm cannot be completed unless the flea swallows tapeworm larvae.
Next, the cat chews or licks its skin as a flea bites; the flea is then swallowed. As the flea is digested within the cats intestine, the tapeworm hatches and anchors itself to the intestinal lining.

but my cat doesnt have fleas....or does that mean that my cat has fleas?!?

and then it says: Treatment is simple and, fortunately, very effective. A drug which kills tapeworms is given, either orally or by injection. It causes the tapeworm to dissolve within the intestines. Since the worm is usually digested before it passes, it is not visible in your cat's stool. These drugs should not cause vomiting, diarrhea, or any other adverse side-effects.
Control of fleas is very important in the management and prevention of tapeworm infection. Flea control involves treatment of your cat, the indoor environment and the outdoor environment where the cat resides. If the cat lives in a flea-infested environment, reinfection with tapeworms may occur in as little as two weeks. Because the medication which treats tapeworm infection is so effective, return of the tapeworms is almost always due to reinfection from the environment.

so...how do i control the fleas if i dont see any? and my didnt say anything about that..
i am confused  i dont know what to do

It sounds like tapeworm. Your kids can get tapeworm if they injest the segments. I'd vacuum the house frequently just in case. We've had tapeworm infestation in the house before and our kitties were treated with drontal tabs which took care of it. My son was in the crawling stage so I cleaned house quite often so he wouldn't put the eggs or larvae in his mouth. Do you see any black dots on Max's fur? Try running a wet paper towel on his fur and see if you pick up any red or brown smears from flea droppings.

Yep. Sounds like tapeworms and that you have all the info. I would probably treat him for fleas with frontline even if you don't see any. Cat fur is wicked thick--unlike my dachshunds' fur. I would probably assume he has them --even though I don't like to use alot of chemicals on my furkids.

    thanks all for replying..

the vet gave me 3 pills...i gave him the first one on friday...does that mean that the worms are dead and out of him by now? i have to give him a pill after 10 days and again after 10 days
the problem is..i dont see anything different in his poo..am i supposed to see dead worms?

the vet didnt mention anything about fleas...i checked my cat's fur for fleas with a flea comb. he isnt scratching or anything..
because my cat was a stray before i got him about 2 months ago..the vet thinks that maybe he ate a bird or a mouse.

vene.. you said : "Your kids can get tapeworm if they injest the segments"

would i be able to see the segments..and what do they look like?

    thanks

The segments look like rice grains and they fall out of the rear end, lol's. It will be white when it first falls out and wiggle. Then it dries up and looks like flat, yellow, dried rice grains or large sesame seeds. They are large enough so you'll be able to see it. With the drontal tabs, our cats were rid of the infestation with 1 treatment. Although our vet recommended 2 doses. You won't see the segments in their poo. At least I wasn't able to.
