adoption advice

I think i want to adopt my next pit instead of buying one. Does anyone know of any websites that will help me in finding the right pit for me to adopt. i would much rather help a pit in need of a home then pay hundreds of dollars for a puppy. if anyone can help me i would appreciate it.

GOOD FOR YOU !!! The number of pits in need are staggering! I'm certain you can find the perfect baby. Simply type in pitbull recsue in your browser or any search engine and more than you can imagine will pop up.
Pit bull rescue central even has a directory by state. Also check your area shelters DAILY to see who has come in. Owner turn-overs usually only have 24 hrs to find a new home before........their gone.

p.s. Of course always try to explore the animal's past if possible. Make sure your animal of choice has been temperment and health checked. Don't make snap decisions, often the dog will pick YOU GGOD LUCK !!

You may want to check the local shelters out in your area.
PBRC is a wonderful site, however, many of the dogs listed are in foster care (which is a marvelous thing) but the shelter dogs are in IMMEDIATE DANGER and they need urgent help getting out of death row!!
Most local shelters are 80% full of pitbulls/ american staffordshire terriers/ and pit/mixes.

Hi! I am picking up this angel "Princess"sometime this week! She was due to be euthanized this Thursday but due to a lot of caring people putting the word out about this sweet girl she was brought to my attention. I am about 4 hours from where she is but there are a few people from another forum I visit who are helping me out with transporting her. I am only going to be fostering her until a forever home is found for her She was in a house fire and was severely burned and has been through a lot she has actually been in a shelter since February but I hear she is real sweetie! so Please, Please keep her in mind. If not her than any of the others listed with PBRC who are in your area or surrounding area. I will post more pictures of her as soon as she gets here and gets settled in.

Try www.petfinder.com and click on the find shelter link. It will give you a listing of all the shelters that participate in your area. Most of them have pics and a bio of their dogs.

Here are just a few rescues. Sue is right, a lot of these dogs are in foster, and aren't in dyer need, but still do need homes. Shelters would be the first place I would look. They also do temperment tests on the dogs to make sure they are suitable for going to homes. There are also some places that will let you have an overnight with the dog to see how it feels for you. If you do this, just remember that a shelter/rescue dogs true personality may take months to come out in full, so if he appears apprehensive and shy, that is probably not what he will be like when he realizes he is safe and at home.
