Hello to you all, im hoping to find out a little information about my cat, she is a year old, roughly around 5 months ago sassy (cat) had to have her tail amputated due to a tail pull injury (happened while she was out) she seems to have healed well and has all function of her bladder and bowls which i no this can be a problem in some cats, well ive noticed over the last few days that sassy looks quite fat around the tummy, my worry is if she is pregnant will her tail injury affect the labour or birth of her kittens? hope someone can help.

roughly a year old...she is too young to even be having kittens. Get the litter aborted and have her spayed for her health. She's just much too young. Why oh why do people let their cats outside when they are in heat? First she gets injured and loses her tail, then she ends up pregnant and she's still basically a kitten herself.

No the tail thing probably won't affect her pregnancy and/or labor....but her age very well could.

:( Definitely agree with Mary on this, only one thing though, Ive seen a few 'late' abortions (when they are being spayed too) where the kittens/puupies 'aborted' have then had to be euthanized so Im always 'stuck between a rock and a hard place' with this one. A few vets that Ive worked with wont do late abortions because of this. I would take your cat to the vet as soon as they open on Monday, find out how pregnant she is and then make a decision. If you decide not to abort I would start looking for homes now for them and then get her spayed as soon as possible.
Sorry, just my personal feeling on it....I know...more potential homeless kittens, like there arent enough in the shelters already.

some vets will not abort....i know when we took my dog to get spayed...we thought she was possible pregnant becuase she had to stay outside...stupid land lord..how ever...someones dog had gotten loses and had mated with her...how ever when we took her to the vet they said she wasn't pregenant but if she was..then would not have spayed her...and they wouild have just let her have the pups...now i live Pennsylvania....so im not sure if it is different where you live..but some vets in this state won't abort
