Advice on our cats death

    Hi All

Just looking for a bit of advice. We got two kittens [one boy one girl] from a home when they were about 6 months old we have had them just over a year and they are inseperable. Unfortunately we had a call this morning letting us know the male cat had wondered miles and was killed by a car.

They were very close as cats, one would not eat without the other, looked after each othe and loved company. We are wondering what to do next?

We are thinking about getting another cat to keep the female cat company, Is this a good idea?? Obviously she will be looking for him as she always does when he is not around. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Steve and laus

I would get another male about the same age then keep them inside and be sure to spay/neuter.
It'll probably not be love at first sight but slowly integrate them and they might develop a bond.
Sorry to hear about your kitten....

I'm so sorry about your kitty.

Your other kitty will probably adjust after a short time. Kitties are generally independent by nature.

The only advice I can give is whenever we got a new cat while having an adult cat, our adult cat accepted a kitten more than another adult cat so it might be better to get a kitten. I'm not an expert. That is just my opinion and the experience I had.

    Good luck.

I'm so sorry about your kitties! I've lost Milo's sister Vene to hit and run and Milo became depressed for 3-4 days and went about his normal business. Monty took it real hard since they were buddies. He who normally is afraid of the outdoors went out 3 days in a row retracing Vene's footsteps. It was heartbreaking. But cats are very resilient. They will get back to their routine. I believe it would be a good idea to get another kitty with very slow intro to get her mind distracted and to have a new playmate, or companion. We found Rene who looked and acted exactly like Vene and our cats accepted her right away with the exception of Pumpkin who only likes human companionship. Monty now has a new buddy and they are found together many times during the day. I believe cats heal better than we do because they are more accepting of the facts of life. They are survivors.
