How quickly do you think a dog can have an allergic reaction to something they eat?

Indy got itchy yesterday and started licking again. Luckily I think I caught it before it got too bad...I was able to shave the area and put him on his Temaril P and put his wonderful e-collar on and left him inside for the day. Whenever this happens I am always left wondering if there was some trigger or whether it was just the heat/humidity, etc. It has been quite hot and humid here lately. But I did give him a slice of pizza Monday, which I know was bad but he really wanted it. But only one piece. And Tues or Weds I switched him over to Lipiderm (from Grizzly Salmon Oil) and I was wondering if that might have caused it? But of course he got them when he was on the salmon oil too so who knows.

I think a reaction to a new food would happen quite quickly, like within a day at most. There are allergies that build up over time, but this would be a more gradual change, I would think.

LOL. You are so bad. You fell for those giant eyes.

I just hope it is not the Lipiderm. I had such high hopes for it. I'm going to give it at least a week, given that he doesn't get any worse. Once he gets his meds and a shave, he usually gets better in a day or two so if he doesn't get better I'll know pretty quickly.

    How's he doing now?

He's all better now. So I guess it isn't the Lipiderm. Once I get him shaved and on his meds, he heals quickly.
