We will pay for rescued Cats and Dogs
    by CarolAulett, 11/11/05 20:30 ET
    Hello well intentioned people,
My company has an immediate need for 300 small dogs and 500 cats.
De-clawed cats are fine! The animals need to be fairly healthy
animals. They need to be alive for at least 30 days after our intake.

The price for these animals are as follows:

If we pickup in Arkansas or Mississippi $5 = cats, $9 = dogs

If animal is shipped to our home office in New Jersey (address to
    follow) $25 = cats, $29 = dogs
In addition to this, we are providing an incentive to the person who
rescues the most animals for us. At the end of December, we will
tally up the rescue efforts. The person who we conclude to be the
greatest asset will win an all inclusive trip to Las Vegas, Nevada
for two people for 5 days. This will include air transportation from
Louisiana, hotel stay at 3 star or better resort, meal tickets for 2
meals per person a day, entertainment coupons including 1 fully paid
entertainment concert, and $300 in casino comps spending monies.

We are really concerned about the well being of the cats and dogs
after the Hurricane and want to do our part to insure the animals welfare.

The email may be a hoax, but Huntingdon Life Sciences is all too real and is the largest contracted animal tester on the planet. They are pure evil. They do use cats (along with dogs, monkeys, rabbits, others). Companies hire them to test their products on animals, and they do things like the Draize test that involves repeatedly applying the product in question into fully conscious, unsedated rabbits' eyes. They are completely restrained so they can't try to rub the stuff out of their eyes, and they stay that way for days until they're finally killed.

The sad thing is that the data they get from testing on animals is pretty much useless when applying the same data to humans, their physiology is just too different. It's done for purely legal reasons, and has little practical value to consumers, and causes a whole lot of suffering for these poor little victims, just so some company can try to market a new floor cleaner or mascara. Fortunately, there are more and more companies today who refuse to take part in animal testing, and you can look for the "no testing" bunny logo on all sorts of products. Cosmetics companies like Kiss My Face and Ecco Bella have been leaders in the field of cruelty free cosmetics, and my wife uses them all the time.

Oh my gosh, I just read through those sites and am literally sick to my stomach. I grew up in a home of animal lovers and it's just something I never grew out of when I left home. I threw away a whole bag of cat food after I read that. I *just* bought a bag of iams weight control as this is what I feed my cat. I will not feed my cat a product from a place that does that, I feel I'd support them in what they dofrom buying anymore product from them. This concerns me....I feed my dog Science Diet, I didn't see it on the list of safe companies, but does anyone know a way I can check them out to see if they do these tests? I was totally unaware that a pet food company would test on animals like that. It's just wrong. :x
I need to find my cat a new food now. I want to switch him to Science diet hoping they aren't like Iams. Thanks.
