and i was worried about the puppies??

Hello a couple of days? weeks? it goes to fast cant remember how long ago but i said i'm crazy and getting 2 kittens and was worried about my Yorkies and how they would react well i should have been worried about how the kittens would react it was so funny i think they are about (person i got them from is not positave) 6-7 weeks old but she went on vacation so i took them early. When they saw the puppies i have never seen such little babies hunch their backs and hiss and swat it was so funny the yorkies didnt know what to do they were scared. I got them last Friday and felt kinda bad because my daughter graduated this weekend :cry: (aaaaaaahhhhhhhh i'm old) so i was really busy on friday i picked them up and brought them home put them in my son's room with food and kitty box and had to leave for about 5 hours(prepare for next days party) when we came home we had to give them baths (they have fleas) that was not fun but when i brought them out sebastain is so jealous he was barking when he stoped i squated down and let them sniff each other it was so funny sebastion got a hiss and took off. They are all getting along better now but we still put the kittens (butters and fonzi) in the room when we leave just to be sure. Oh ya one more thing it was so cute when we had my daughters graduation party on saturday the little kittys were sleeping in a crystal bowl that i have on my end table they looked so comfy on top of each other and everything it was so cute. My older cats just look at me like will you PLEASE stop bringing stuff home :?

Hahaha, I hope everything works out just fine. Your furbabies will get used to each other eventually. You'll have to post some pics of them. :lol:

 

One thing I have heard of to do is to set the new kitties up in their own room with everything they need in there. Let them stay in that room for about a week. During that time, take some of their stuff out and let the dogs sniff it. Let the dogs and other cats sniff the kitties under the door, etc.

Then I forget how the rest of the steps go. I think you allow some supervised visits and gradually work up to letting them all work it out for themselves.

Do make sure those little kittens are not left unsupervised with the other animals until you are SURE everyone has adjusted!!

well i guess all is good my daughter just called to tell me that fonzi (the kitten) and Jasmine we snuggling togather how cute it didnt take to long for them to like each other but we still put the kittens in the kids rooms when no one is home and at night while we are sleeping i dont want to take any chances :lol:

 

I've heard that if two animals sleep cuddled together, they are safe to leave - but I wouldn't, just to be safe. Kittens are awful tiny.

dont worry i'm still not going to leave them alone togather yet Jasmine has bonded with the kittens but sebastain really hasnt he just ignors them unless they run then he chase's them to play it funny i always thought sebastain and jasmine were so tiny (they are smaller then my other cats) but next to the kittens they look like giants lol pretty soon the kittens will be bigger then them and i cant wait till they all play togather i wont let that happen till the kittys are bigger but it will be fun to watch

 

well i'm home now and everyone (kittens and yorkies) are laying on the couch togather AAAAAAWWWWWW they are so cute. the one kitten fonzi loves to play with all the dog toys and the other kitten butters loves to lay in the dishes :? guess i have to buy more dishes and dog toys geez. I have only had the kittens for 5 days and everyone gets along great the they even share their food and water (of course i have to stop the food thing) but at least they are sharing and getting along but still supervised and will be supervised for a couple of months do you think that is long enough??. I dont know how to post pictures but as soon as i develop my film i will figure it out but i guess i should do it in the cat forum??? then again if they are all laying togather i guess it would be ok to do it here

I would think a couple months would be sufficient, since they are already doing so well. You should know at that time, though, whether it is safe to leave them or not. By then the kitties will be bigger than the doggies anyway.
