Annie's breakthrough in obedience

Annie went to her obedience class last night, we're on our 5th week. She was vey dog agressive when we came to this class and I think the instructors were a bit worried about her, but she calmed down the second week and the instructors now absolutely adore her, even though she's still dog agressive, it's managable. Anyways, at the end of the class we are taking the Canine Good Citizen Test and I just knew she wouldn't pass on the part of the test where we have to meet a stranger with a dog. Well, we did that exercise last night, and she did great! She even sat while I greeted the owner of this huge Dobe that she absolutely hates. They are a very funny pair, the Dobe is a chocolate with yellow eyes, is 7 months old, but got kicked out of the puppy class because it was too big, and it is wired all the time, it's constanly dancing around on the end of the leash, just acting like a puppy. It's owner is this HUGE guy that could be a linebacker for the NFL..he's like 6'4, and well huge, with huge muscles, and it always cracks me up when he gives commands because he says "sit" to his dog and it's like thunder his voice is so deep, but the dog doesn't even look like it heard him, just continues bouncing..hehe
Anyways, Annie won't fail the test now because of her dog agression, but will fail because she can't accept petting from a stranger..she's a big wiggle butt, no matter how many times I tell her to stay, bribe her with treats, she just HAS to get up and try to get in the lap of whoever is approaching to pet her..hehe..hopefully with 3 more weeks of work we can get that working too.

We're having a blast with the classes. I must say, she is one of the smartest dogs in the class..unfortunately..she also has ADD and is stubborn..hehe.
The instructor noticed that she definetely disliked somedogs more than others, so she's doesn't take shots at everybody, One little annoy dxie that barks the entire class..and has all five weeks, well her owner apparently doesn't know what a dog aggressive dog is, and is constantly walking up with her barking dog behind us almost running into Annie and then when greeting us, her dog broke and she didn't notice till it was in Annie's face barking. I was sure she would react to this dog, since it is so vocal but she doesn't care about it, yet one very well mannered dog that hasn't even looked at her, if she gets anywhere close to it, she has a reaction, same with the Dobe and the instructor's aussie. She is also fine with a Standard Poodle in the class though. Then last week, Annie's dad, who observes the class while I handle her noticed that all the dogs that she really dislikes have yellow eyes. Just a coincidence or do you think there's something to it?

 sorry...eveytime I read any of your posts now I see the pic of Annie 'gracefully' catching her toy in the air.....funny.

Thats interesting what you say about the yellow eyes, dogs do react one way or another whether thats friendly, defensive or aggressive or non-chalantly to other dogs by their body language and the eyes, its not something Ive ever paid attention to before with the colour. No doubt I will now be watching for that.

funny about the yellow eyes, I had a stray this week-end at my house that had yellow eyes, It was choc lab, I wonder if it had dobie in it, because the tail was croppped, and Wylie who doesnt like most other dogs got along great with it. I think dogs sense vibes of others and their comfort level.
