another driftwood question

    If i were to get an old peice of drift wood how long do i need to boil it. It is very old and dry and was in water already. Do i really need to boil it for 8 hours?

    I reccomend at LEAST 4 hours, i usaly boil mine for days and let it dry at night since im paraniod.

    for my guppy tank i boiled some for likr 4 or 5 hours and it was right from the beach, the fish are fine and the PH levels didnt change but i would be kinda freaked about putting it in my 20g tank with my good fish

    how come u have to boil it so long and wont my pot burn a whole through it if i boil it that long? Another question is there any chance it will harm my fish cuz i have piranhas and i woulnd want them to die

    You need to add water to it as the water level goes down!!

    my water level as i was boiling dropped alot so keep a eye on it, and about it harming you fish i dont know but my fish are fine the the PH is still the same..
