Lex will actively seek out unprotected photos to lick them. He'd go at it for hours i'm sure but i've always caught him and since the first time keep an eagle eye out for unwary photos.

i'm sure there must be some chemical he finds tasty, but i can't imagine it's anywhere near safe! Not to mention how bad it is for the pictures :?

Does anyone elses cat do this? Maybe know exactly why they do this?

My 2 meezers, Missy and Tilly, are pix lickers.

My Patches was a bag licker. He *loved* to lick plastic bags. Did it all his life.

Emily is a bag licker and Toonces is a bag chewer (she doesn't swallow, just chews).

Nitro and plastic bags, when we go shopping and come home I think he tries to lick every bag. Anyone know why they do this?

Now that you all mention it i've noticed Raz licking a bag here or there... i always just thought there was something sticky on there i didnt see.

i just spent forever on Google trying to find maybe an answer to these questions... to no avail. very curious.

Fifteen years ago, when Patches was a kitten, I tried to find information on some sort of deficiency that would cause a cat to lick plastic bags. I ended up chalking it up to "he likes it." Tesla will chew on crinkly plastic, but Patches would lick every plastic bag he could find. They also like to chew on soft rubber - like pencil erasers and some children's toys - so we had to be careful to not leave those things out. And of course the ubiquitous and terribly dangerous rubber bands - my kids are trained well to NEVER set one down anywhere.

On a somewhat related note, if you cat suddenly starts trying to eat its kitty litter, that could be a sign of anemia. Just something to keep in mind.

This is almost enough to spur me into investigating and calling the city vets for oppinions...then posting my findings.

No photo lickers here but Vene + Rene love/d to scratch newly printed pictures. Lol on the licking of plastic bags. For some strange reason, Milo will run away in fright at the sight and sound of fluffing platic bags. Vene used to chew the bags too.

Moe is obsessed with plastic bags. No matter how hard I try to hide them, she will seek them out and lick and chew them. She especially loves doing it at night when I'm trying to sleep!

Copper chews on plastic bags too! Not the grocery store kind, but the clear ones like ziplock. It took me a while to figure out who was doing it...I would just find the bag with tiny holes all in it. Crazy kitties!

LOL. When I read the post title I thought it was going to be about a new product called "Picture Lickers." Of course I had no idea what on earth this product could be.

As for our cats, all of our pictures are safe and sound away from them, so I have no idea if they would lick them or not. :0011:
