Anyone have lobster/crayfish?

I saw this listed as an algae eater on aquariumfish.net They have great fish prices.

Does anyone have experience with these? Are they reccomended? Will cichlids eat them?

 

Those can get quite big if I recall correctly. More likely that they would eat any fish in with them :lol: Also, they won't mix with cichlids very well because they occupy the bottom of the tank which cichlids like too. So you'd wind up with the crayfish catching the cichlids I bet. Also I'm pretty sure that they need softer waters than the africans. Or are you looking at South Americans now? I forgot....

Know of any really good websites to buy fish that also tell how big the fish get?

 

Try www.liveaquaria.com I've never bought fish online but they are a more truthful site than aquariumfish.net. They're pretty expensive sometimes though.

And I had an electric blue crayfish once upon a time, before he died because I didn't pay attention to cycling he had killed almost every fish in the tank.

 

More truthful with regards to adult fish sizes and what is actually needed to keep the fish. All over the aquariumfish.net website it is plastered that you must have a bio-wheel and no more than 1/4" of aquarium gravel or else your live guarantee is void. I'm sorry, but people have been keeping fish without bio-wheels forever and having more than 1/4" of gravel isn't going to kill anything. I also find that they underestimate the size of large fish like arowanas, pacus, and ID sharks. They make it sound like normal people should keep these fish, which I don't agree with. I've just never cared for that site much and I don't find it to be a reliable source of information.

 

ok, these guys dig. they will eat whatever is slow enough and wa=hat every can fight in there claws. there are best to be kept will large cichlids because these guys get to be 8". So they should be kept w/ oscars, jack depemsys, firemouths, and maybe very aggressive cichlids like Kenyi Cichlids or Red Zebras. u could try convicts. they are so aggressive and get to be be a good size of 6". I have so much experince w/ these guys. my uncle has one in a 90g african cichlid tank and i have 1 in my 40g and i used to have another in my 10g. make sure u have a covered hood. my old one climbed out the back of the hood and hid and died.they rip apart whatever they can including fish, plants, clams, snails(yes snails) and sometimes fake plants.
