At night the truth comes out ;)

  1. This is something i have always loved about cats. They sleep all day occassionaly wake to play alittle eat alot and use the litter box a bit. But at night all hell breaks lose especially with more then one cat its they go from mellow to when they see you they take off in a hyper gallop! Even older cats I have had had done this and I just find it so amusing. Whats everyone else's take on it annoying or funny?

I find it both funny and perfectly normal since cats are nocturnal by nature

I guess I am fortunate, I have raised all 11 of mine to not be nocturnal so they sleep at nite. At least 3 of them on top of me and the others surrounding me. I took them as kittens and basically kept them on the bed, many sleepless nites but not anymore..

When Artemis was at his kitteny-worst, I had to resort to not allowing him to sleep during the day. Any time he would start to doze off during the day I would wake him up. He got used to that being the norm, and now he comes in to cuddle or play with me at 6:30 every morning (I get up at 7) instead of 4:30. I can't complain about that!

Missy stays by my side all night long. Tilly starts out with me and then wanders away.
Then there is Zeus...why is it always Zeus? He's slightly OCD and has to walk across my body about 8x before he'll finally settle down. And when I roll over he starts over....back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. Then he'll lay down and lick my nose, and fart before falling asleep.

Four of the five cats are great and I wouldn't even know they were in the house while I'm trying to sleep.

But Boris... oh, Boris... he feels the need for attention in the middle of the night. Last night it was 3:30 am. I wasn't amused. He's cute and wonderful - but why can't he be that way at 7pm?

I'm too tired for it and I just ignore him. But, when he puts a paw (with a claw) in the face while begging for attention, I turn to my other side and try to ignore him.

Kyrre used to wake us up every night. Sometimes he was bored, other times he wanted to cuddle but most of all it was because he was thirsty and wanted to drink water from the faucet
Now hw no longer has the habit of drinking from the faucet, and he doesn't stay in our bedroom anymore. The only time he wakes us up now is when he wants to come inside in the middle of the night. Then he'll meow at our bedroom window :)

Lol Mary, I can picture it

I'm definately dealing with some sleeping issues....I just got a kitten, who isn't sure about my dog, although they both insist on sleeping with me. So I would say they starting growling/barking at each other at least 4 times a night! And to make it worse, the kitten likes to use my head as a toy!
