this is the time I year I feel truly bad for those cats and dogs that are forced to be outside. It's freak'in cold outside here...my heart breaks to think of the animals that have to be outside in this cold weather with little to no protection for the elements.

Mary, I'm exactly the same way. Sometimes I just cannot stop thinking about it. My heart breaks too for those poor animals outside. Here in Saskatchewan, the winters can be very brutal........so it's constantly on my mind. I wish I could take every one of them into my house with me.

My mom's neighbor works really long hours and has the CUTEST dog. She is so nice. I go over there and pet her sometimes (I've never met my mom's neighbor by the way) because she looks so sad and lonely. The neighbor doesn't have a dog house for her and I've been trying to figure out where she goes when it rains.
Such a shame for such a nice dog.

I have 2 strays or ferals outside and I feel guilt ridden that they are not inside where it's toasty warm. :(

It's just so sad, I hate even thinking about it. Luckily, to my knowledge there are no strays or outdoor pets nearby. I am concerned about a cat that used to run about the neighborhood. I haven't seen her in months :( She was white, long haired and had a collar but she was dirty and would always eat when I fed her. I kept a bowl of food and water on my front porch for her. I nicknamed her stinky heheh. I miss her and hope that she is safe and well somewhere.

I feel bad that my neighbor keeps her dog out... no matter what. The dog has no house, no toys in the yard, and the grass turned to dirt (mud in the rain). I called the local animal welfare people out here to complain. They took my complaint (this was over 6 months ago) and never did anything about it, and never called me back.

    Poor dog. :(

Why did these people buy her to keep her out in the elements, alone and sad, while they snuggle up inside? I just don't understand.

I always feel so bad for lawn ornament dogs....nothing sadder (well maybe a lawn ornament kid but the authorities wouldn't allow that). At least here if a dog isn't provided with acceptable shelter during cold months the police and/or humane society will get involved.

I live in Florida, so the strays down here luckily don't have to deal with the bitter cold like where some of you live. Although to me, anything below 65F is FREEZING! Poor babies up north :( I can't imagine.

Maybe you could bug them a few more times before it gets super cold and see what happens. A lot of times they just don't have anywhere near enough ACO's to answer all of the calls they get, so certain ones have to take priority. Maybe they figure its not a problem anymore cuz they haven't gotten more complaints about it.

I actually got the address for the people who keep their dog outside. I am going to call a different organization this time. I can't in good conscience let that dog freeze out there without trying to help. I'm pretty sure the wind chills were at least in the teens last night and I saw the dog just sitting out in it.

We'll see what happens. The least I can do is try to have a voice for the poor dog.

lucidity...let us know what happens - keep at them. If you don't go away they'll have to do something
