Bathing a dirty kitty

Ok, I just posted pics of my new addition, Zach. He makes kitty number six. It's been a good while since I've actually put one of them in the sink or tub for a good washing as they are all inside all the time. Well, Zach came from the Animal Shelter and all they know about him is tha the was a stray. He was desperately in need of a bath so I decided I would try it.

He's such a laid back and easy going kitty (at least he has been since he came home a couple of days ago) that I didn't think I'd have too much trouble. I enlisted the help of my husband and put him in the tub and crawled in with him. To say that I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was, would be an understatement!! He never made a sound or tried to scratch or bite me..he just wanted out of that water. I think I got most of the 'yuckies' off of him , but he could use another one as I was trying to hurry as he wanted out and get the worst parts of him that needed cleaned.

I wish they were all that easy!

Here's a new pic of Zach in his favorite sleeping place so far ( the other is in front of the air conditioning vent!)...

Thanks! :D We thought at first that he maybe had some Maine Coon in him becuase he's SO big, but I'm wondering now of he really does or if he isn't just a very large cat.

He kind of looks like a maine coon. Maybe he's a main coon/turkish van mix. Turkish vans are known for liking water (although not all do) and his markings are a little similar to van markings.

He sounds like a doll  Kyrre is the same way when I shower him, all I have to do is to hold one hand on is chest while I kneel behind him, using my other hand to wash him :D

He's such a good boy. Could he be a ragdoll being so large and cuddly and friendly and cute?

  7. Is'nt it great when they make it that easy? Both Bastion and Rooney had their first baths the day i brought them home and they were so good! Also though I had just clipped their front claws. All they wanted was out of the tub but they did like when i would take the cup and rinse the warm water down their backs they would squint their eyes and arch their backs like "oh thats nice  "

    thats hilarious vene.

I just gave my kitties a bath the other day, not much stuggling but I know they wanted out. I felt bad afterward, they looked like drowned rats.
