Bengal Kitties not getting along

I brought home a 91/2 week bengal spotted 2 weeks ago today, and brought home a 9 week bangal marble last sunday. The older one is very spunky, playful and is non-stop hissing, spitting, jumping on the younger one and biting her. Is this normal? will they ever love each other? They are both girls. Any suggestions? The older one is not as affectionate, but has a very nice personality when not hissing. Thanks. hollyc1

did you just plop them together or give it a slow introduction? Keeping them isolated from each other. If you just introduced them immediately you may have to start over.
A little trick I've heard people using, although have never tried myself, is to place a little bit of vanilla extract at the base of their tail. The smell of the vanilla masks their own smell confusing them.
Could give that a try - and if you do report back I'd like to know how well it works, although others swear by it.

I guess I goofed. I just brought the little one in and showed the bigger one. I put perfume on each and this morning seems a little better. But I have to keep reinforcing the bigger one with "be nice, Tosha" very gently and she does listen. I will use the vanilla today. I am keeping them apart when I'm not home and watching them when I am home. Hopefully they become best buds soon.

I would probably not do perfume again - It sounds like it could be harmful. The vanilla would be just as effective and is non-toxic to the cats.

I have introduced 5 cats together over time. It worked successfully every time. With kittens, I would expect it to be even easier.

We kept the new cat isolated for a couple days (in a comfortable room with everything they needed). During that time, the cats sniffed each other under the door.

After a couple days, we put up a babygate and let the cats look at each other through the gate. There was some hissing and fear, but not much.

The rest was a slow process... we let the new cat sniff around the house and the old cats sniff the new cat's room. We supervised them all together and waiting until any fear or aggression were gone.

After a week or two, we had one happy family. One fur-filled family... but a happy one none the less.

Good luck, I'm sure it will work out.

:m23: and welcome! We went cold turkey with all our intros and I would not recommend it. Slow is the way to go! Love to see pics of the cuties if you have any! :m7:
