i have two male indoor cats. one has been having soft (very smelly) stool with blood in it. I had him to the vet who took a sample for worms that came back negitave. The other cat is fine. any idea's of what is causing this? any help would be greatly appreciated
    thanks mark

Hi and welcome to Auspet. It could be from all sorts of things. What did the vet say? Is your cat eating, drinking, going to the bathroom and acting like his normal self? If not you may want to bring him back to the vet.

he eats normaly, He is overweight and would eat a lot more if i let him. as far as i can tell he if drinking normally as well. as for going to the bathroon, it is fairly reguraly, at learst once a day. on occasion though he will go outside the litter box on the floor. As for the vet she daid he seemed fine after the exam. she gave me some pills for an upset stomach and was told that if that didn't work more tests could be done...ie ultra sound (I realy can't afford that)

Hi. The vet seems to think he's fine, so that is good. Just keep an eye on him. If his eating/drinking/bathroom habits change then you may have to go back to the vet. You may also just try checking his stools to see if they are bloody. What kind of pills did she prescribe for him?

im not sure exactly what the meds were...just to help with an irratated bowl/stomach. it seems that there is blood present everytime he goes to the litter box. i have read that diet could cause this. would changing from dry food to wet help?

Hi. I'd give your vet a call and let them know there is still blood in the stools. As for food. IMO feeding our cats quality (1st ingredient being some kind of meat and not a meat by product or fillers like corn) wet food 2X a day and leaving out dry food is the best.
