Well Boo is doing better and worse. His neck is very swollen and I've started him on another 5 days of Pennacylin.

I pulled about a pound and a half of dead and rotting flesh out of his wounds and reveiled much new growth underneat. Though his testicles are drying up and will likely fall off. BIG ugh...

So after throwing up for a few hours and still not even thinking of eating ANYTHING ESPECIALLY MEAT... I got some pics. You can see the new growth which is good, but yes the wound area is MUCH bigger. The vet said that would happen. Most tissue would die off and the lack of blood supply will cause further damage. His little neck has a knot on both sides today like the size of footballs.... I don't know why.....

But here he is. Making a somewhat recovery!!!!

    ACK!! Poor baby!!

You'd think it couldn't help but get terribly infected being all open like that! Could the swelling in his neck be due to an abscess from puncture wounds?

And I would definitely use those photos in court. They look a lot more terrible even than the originals.

aakkkk, poor Boo. SometimesI think its better to get air into wounds than to bandage them, hugs and prayers to Boo, for feeling better

I quit putting the pants on him last Saturday. It looked like it really needed air. They look really freshin that photo because I had JUST pulled all the rotten stuff out of it and hydroed it with the water hose for about 10 minutes.

Yes it does look bad. But he's got good blood supply to whats left. I'm not sure about the neck. I gave him an injection of the pennacylin in the neck this morning hoping that if the infection is in his neck, the meds will be right there. Right now his medical bills alone are at a staggering $1444.38....thats not including the fura-zone, anticeptic spray, vasaline, ect... and the time I'm having to do all this to him....

What we worry about is yes, we can take him to court and get a judgement declaring he pay, but weather or not he will??? then what? We're stuck with that bill...and to top it off, both mares lost their foals. SO I've got to get them re bred, and in order to do that, they both have to be flushed, sonogramed to find out what stage their folicals are in, haul them the 400 miles back to the breeders..... ugh... its a no win situation....

So I'm gonna nail that bastard even if I don't see a penny from him. That little boys life was supposed to be the best. And he ruined it. He was supposed to grow big and strong, and be shown and live alife of a king...breeding and showing....without a care in the world. I've been showing cattle and animals all my life. The expense of it is mind boggling....to raise him for the duration of show age (18months) will cost roughly $3000.00. To raise him his life....is in the tens of thousands.....not to meantion the space he's gonna need.

He's got top notch blood lines. I won two time Grand Champion with his full half brother 4 years ago. And this little guy was proving to be better than his brother. not anymore.... we don't even know if he'll ever be sound, or live.....

So to all you out there who think its funny, or coool...to own a vicious dog, and turn him loose on people....I wish to God, one day you have to go through what I'm going through. Only I want no animal to suffer.

Yall have no idea how hard this is on me.... I talked to Sara last night...and its a good thing.

Hey there...I HAD to post on this one... I've been lurking a bit...between horses and puppies (my older gelding had an upper respiratory infection) I've been soooo busy I can't get online with enough time to post...checking for interrest in the puppies is about all I can do... I did post about them on a Boerboel forum yesterday...if you're interrested. New pics of them will be up in a bit as well...on www.arcadyanboerboels.com My web designer is too busy to update my own page...really urks me... Not as bad as what dogs can do when running loose...

had to deal with it with the neighbors sheep...ACK...very crappy.

Sam, I'm rooting for you 100% and if you need to take a get away trip I'm here for you and a puppy's just waiting for you to take her home too... She's a sweety, dominant but DANG sweet...

As far as abcesses go...Puncture wounds do tend to swell up hard, not like an abcess so much...but they do swell up a bit...then the body re-absorbs this... I've seen a limited number of them but that's the concensus. Since boo is on Antibiotics I doubt it's an abcess rather it's likely just swelling of tissue around the wound where all the cells are working to repair it.

While being bigger those wounds look REALLY healthy Sam! You are doing a really good job with them for sure... PINK is good no matter how much of it there is. I think from here on out that hind end of his will only improve... Keep up on it and know that we're all rootin' for you... And in a year if this were to happen again (roaming mutts) you'll have two dogs who can handle them and give them the whooping they deserve...

good luck and keep me updated... You sound SOOOO exhausted on the phone I hardly know what to say... Cheer up and know you're doing a GREAT job with this little guy...

This was the bottom you realize...up is really the only way to go (in theory of course)...

    I'm out...miss ya'll BTW... Miss you all a TON!!!

Sams, didn't you say that if the horses lost their foals he would be charged with more counts of killing animals?

If you do take him to court, make sure you are documenting everything. If you need any help proofreading documents, just mail 'em to me. I would imagine you could get him for a lot with the right lawyer. Is there anyone who would take the case pro bono?

Does the vet say it is normal? Could it be fat deposits? Fat is a sort of yellowy-looking stuff.[/quote]
