Can they be put together in the same cage?

It depends as budgies get very aggressive when they are wanting to breed so chances are it may attck and hurt the lovebird.

People think that the larger birds will be able to defend themselves against a budgie but this is not the case there has been larger birds killed by a budgie.

All you can do is supervise them when they both out of the cage or you can place them together and keep a very close eye on them see how things go, You will notice the odd bickering session but this is to be expected aslong as no blood is drawn allow them to sort it out if the fighting persists then you will have to seperate them into different cages.
