Can Anyone Explain This Weird Behavior

Everytime I return home with the boys my routine is to drive into the garage then shut the garage door before I let them out because I have already taken off their collars , usually to dry out from a swim. This routine keeps them from bolting out of the garage as soon as I open the car door. Saturday was normal but yesterday Freckles refused to get out of the car. I left the car door open and Duke and I went inside. When I came back a few minutes later he was still just sitting in the back seat.
I re-attached his leash and collar but he still wouldn't budge. I finally sat and pulled with the leash while pushing his rear out the car. Once down he bounded off inside as if nothing at all was wrong.
Well when we returned from agility class last night he again refused to get out. Dukesmom tried to coax him out with food, no luck. She put his leash back on and pulled, no luck. I went around to the other side to push while she pulled and this only got a growl out of him like "Leave me alone".
Exasperated I again just left him there with the door open and went back inside.
After five minutes he was now lying down on the backseat happy as a toot, tail wagging.
I finally decided to open the garage door and back out onto the driveway. Now when I opened the door he hopped out immediately. Once I took him back into the house he acted totally normal and went off to play.
One day OK, the next day not. Any guesses as to what's going on in that little brain?

    stubborness.....

Smokey will do this every now and then as well. He doesn't want to go home just yet. He thinks his "ride" should be longer. So another round out the drive way and back up or a drive through the pasture usually fixes his stubborness.

Discourgae him from doing this. Don't just leave him, your rewarding him by letting him stay in the car.
Smokey hates the horn. So (we just figured this out the other day) when he decides he wants to stay in the back. Granvel sets the truck alarm off. That usually gets him out rather quickly.

Wylie did this a few weeks ago, she had never done it before, I had to coax her out. relal weird.

Do you think the garage door could have spooked freckles? maybe the sound or something spooked him

That door sound did spook Duke when it was first installed last summer but it's the same door that they have been use to for several months now. It didn't spook him on Saturday.
I can't think of anything that was different between Saturday and Sunday.

I agree with Sams. When it's time to exit the vehicle, stay firm. He may just be exercising his dominance abilities or testing you.

If something is making him nervous, you would know. Heavy panting, shaking, wide eyed, drooling.

Once in awhile my dogs will try to test me. When they ignore me I just make a point to have my way, not let them have theirs. Just remember. we're the "Top Dog."

Shianne gets stubborn like that. Except its that she wont come inside in the mornings when I am trying to get ready for work.
Since I have changed food, she eats it right away, she loves it.
So now what I do, I put her food in her bowl right before I take her out. That way she knows its there and goes out, does her business, and comes right back in to eat. I had to put her on the cheap food for now but after New Years, I plan on putting her on Diamond maybe.
