    cats killing the mice

I dont know that you can stop them unless you keep them completely seperated, its the natural instinct to hunt and kill, are they pet mice and rats? (I assume you meant rats and not cats  ) or wild ones?

If the catching & killing is happening outside, then no, there's no way to stop it. Except for making your cat indoor-only, of course. ;)

If it's happening inside, you can put some humane mousetraps in cupboards and other places where the mice go, and you can try to catch them before your cat does, and release them outside.

When Luna was an outdoor cat, she used to occasionally catch mice. The vet started making me paranoid about that though, because supposedly cats can pick up an assortment of diseases from infected mice.

if your cats do go outside and kill mice you could always put a breakaway collar with a bell on it on the cat....but the downside to this is you can make your cat a victim of a predator since they will be easier to spot.

same answer - either a breakaway collar w/a bell so the creatures she's killing can hear her coming, but this also lets predators know where she is. Or the simple logic answer is keep her inside.

Collar will cost maybe $5.00; keeping her inside is priceless
