Cat Pounces on me while asleep

My six year old cat Henry pounces on me while I am asleep usually around first light in the morning. He always goes for my face. Rather disconcerting to say the least. Any clues as to what this is about? I'm probably have to lock him out of my bedroom at night. Thanks, John

 

wants you up to feed him...do you get up to feed him? If so it's become a habit.
is this new behavior?

 

Silly kitty. My kitties are like that, too, in that they pester us while we are sleeping. Now we don't let them in the room until we're awake in the morning. So I guess keeping him closed out of the bedroom would work. It may take several days for him to get used to it but he'll adjust.
