i read somewhere that at 4 to 6 months a kitten will lose its baby teeth and adult ones will come in. Max is almost 6 months old. i heard some sounds..kind of like someone bitting hard candy. i look at max and there is something in his mouth and he is chewing it. i open his mouth and a tooth drops out. i think it is his tooth. i looked in his mouth..i dont see an empty place where the tooth could have been. has anyone noticed the teeth that fall out when their cat was a kitten? or do cats normally eat their own teeth? :?
here are pics of the tooth i found:

oh..i just noticed when looking at the 2 front top teeth..(i think they are called canine teeth) that there is one infront of each coming out. i mean i can see 4 of them on the top now..but they are not completely out. is that normal? would the other 2 fall eventually? or..were they supposed to have fallen already before the new ones come out?

Hi. It sounds like your cat's deciduous (baby) teeth are coming out right on schedule. :D Generally, between 4-6 months the canines, premolars and molars erupt (meaning the baby teeth will fall out at these times, as the adult teeth come in). Generally by 7 months cats have all of their permanent (adult) teeth. Kittens tend to have 26 deciduous teeth, while adult cats have 30 permanent teeth. Unless your kitty shows signs of not being well, I wouldn't worry. The remaining deciduous teeth will gradually fall out on their own.

i read somewhere that a cat occasionally retains a deciduous tooth after the permanent tooth appears. This deciduous tooth should be removed as soon as possible to avoid displacing the permanent tooth.
so does that mean the the baby tooth should fall out before the new one appears? because Max now has 2 upper canines on each side of his mouth instead of just one. they are stuck togather, one is bigger than the other. and there is black dots in between. is this normal? would the baby canine fall on its own? i took some pics of his teeth:

Nice pics. :y_the_best: If you are concerned that one or more of his deciduous teeth have still not fallen out, you could always take him to the vet and have them take a look. Keep us posted. You're very lucky to have some of his baby teeth! I never once have been able to find any type of tooth on any of my cats since I was a boy. :( :-({|= Are you going to keep them? If you do, place them in a little bit of bleach for 10 minutes to disinfect them.

This happened to my dog Syd when she was a pup. Her teeth looked just like your dogs in the last pictures. When I first noticed it I tried wiggleing the baby tooth to see how loose it was and it wouldnt budge. It was like that for two months, getting loser over time, and eventually it feel out, but towrads the end of the two months we were talking about extracting it but then it fell out on its own.I dont think its a big deal unless it doesnt fall out after a month or so. Just give it time to loosen. My friend at the time use to play with Syds tooth for hours, just trying to gently wiggle it, like you would your own tooth if it was loose. I think that helped too. I think she was the one who was with Syd when it fell out.

I agree with Chessmind, you are very lucky to have actually gotten to find one of Max's teeth! To this day, I still stop to see if one of Sherbert's old teeth could be lieying around! You should definately keep the teeth you found!
