Cat Trapped in House Fed Via Letter Box

Mon Mar 28,11:02 AM ET Oddly Enough - Reuters

LONDON (Reuters) - The owners of a cat trapped for a week in the home of a vacationing neighbor have been pushing ice cubes and cat food through the letter box to keep their pet -- named Lucky -- alive.

The Daily Express newspaper Monday said the black-and-white cat was spotted fast asleep in the neighbor's house after she went missing from her home near Bristol, southwest England.

"I just hope our neighbor has gone away for a week and not for months," owner Tracey Venables, 31, told the newspaper.

Venables said it was likely Lucky had slipped into the neighbor's house unnoticed before the man headed off on holiday ahead of the Easter weekend.

Police have told Venables they are powerless to release her errant cat.

"It's absolutely infuriating because she is so close but we cannot get to her," said the mother-of-two, who added she would break in should Lucky show any signs of ill health.

    "I don't care if I get arrested."

So would I. I can't even let my little one outside on her own yet cause i'm scared something will happen to her. I love her to bits.

I feel for those poor owners. :m13:

I would have broken a window and gotten my cat out in short order. I'd rather pay for a window and possible fines rather than new carpeting and Lord only know's what else. That cat's gotta go potty somewhere!

Thats what I was thinking, the guys going to be in for some 'recarpeting' by the time he gets home, Im surprized the police havent done anything to find out who he is or where he is. Even more surprized that the RSPCA havent got into the house to get the cat out.

Poor kitty. It must have been awful for the owner.

I wonder why the police weren't allowed to get in to get the kitty?

If it was my cat, I would probably first ask neighbors near the house if they knew where the owners went. Sometimes the owners ask neighbors to keep a watch on their house or give them a key to go in and water plants. Then maybe they could contact the owners or the neighbor could get their cat out.

I'm sure the owner would prefer they break in rather than have his house smell to high heaven when he returns.
