Ok... since Precious had her surgery and was on the nasty canned mush... I have been switching Kabuki over to Maximum Nutrition. I've got her all the way to 1/2 peigree 1/2 max Nut!

I put a few pc's in Precious' pedigree, she wolfed it right down. This is the 1st day she's been back on full dry food.

    ingredients:

lamb, brewers rice, chicken meal, corn gluten meal, ground wheat, animal fat....(more cont...)

just the 1st line, but you get the point. dont like the corn, but best they have...
Can't find Chicken Soup for the Dog Lovers Soul anywhere around here w/in 100 miles.

Lamb is probably mostly water so the main ingredient is probably the rice, followed by the chicken meal. "Meal" is actually good, because that means it has been measured after the water is gone. I think "animal fat" is supposed to be less than ideal because it doesn't specify the animal.

    Good going Sam.
Just take it very SLOWLY! T
hey are going to be eating this chow for a long time. Taking a couple of weeks to make a successful transition, in the long run is worth the time.
If you have a registered kennel name - check with the food company to see if you can get discounts or coupons. Purina has rebate/refund program (I personally don't buy Purina), but if they have something like that for kennels and breeders - maybe the company that you are buying food from does.
Also - did you take the trainers position at Petsmart? Do they sell that brand? Do you get a discount?

I enrolled in that too - but I don't use their chow anymore. Our pup was being fed that when we got him, but at 3 months we had a serious bout of diarrhea. I think it was puppy growth stress and teething but it could have been a bad batch of chow or just the food in general. Whatever the cause was - I ended up switching to Iams large breed puppy chow. He has been doing great with it.

My girls refuse to eat anything Purina. I don't know why. My heelers loved it and were on the adult formula and the active formula's Proplan was ok.. but Ihad a hard time keeping weight off Charllotte, and keeping the weight on Smokey and Red dog. Both males were working dogs. Char, was a princess on a thrown.. you couldn't get her to do anything but be pampered...

I've never tried Iams. Personally after what was discovered, I'll never use Iams or any Iams products, nore will I ever recommend any to anyone no matter how good it is.

Buki is on about 3/4 Max Nut. Precious is still being picky, but eating it. She's only getting about a handful mixed with the pedigree... I increased it a bit this morning and she knoticed, she ate it, but very reluctantly.
Honestly I think she's just pouting, she's not getting the other canned goodies and special treatment.

She's gotten back to normal and I came home to a broken door (from the bathroom) and the whole living room up turned.

I'm guessing since she mostly went through the trashcans and bottom cabnets, she was looking for something to eat while she was on a resticted diet... luckily she didn't get into anything...or eat anything...
