ok so i have a cichlid 55 gallon tank
5 convicts(all female so no breeding)
    2 green terrors
    1 pink convict
    1 pleco
    1 crayfish

i am looking to get 3 or 4 kool cichlids to put in here...
my question is can i put in any cichlids from lake tanganika, malawi,or victoria
in with them and if not which ones will/won't work

Your tank is already SEVERELY overstocked. You should be removing fish, not adding more.

Not only do green terrors get very large (10" - 12") they are very aggresive. You need at least 50 gallons EACH.

And a 55 is only big enough for 4 convicts. You might be able to squeeze in a 5th but only if the tank just has the cons and nothing else (ie no plecos, crayfish, gt's etc) and you do water changes once or twice a week.

So you either need more tanks or need to get rid of some fish. If you get more tanks, you'll need a 75 for all the cons and either another 55 so you can separate the gt's or a 100+ if you want to try keeping them together. If you don't plan on getting more tanks, get rid of all but one gt and the pleco, or 4 of the cons, or 3 cons and the pleco or crayfish.

Oh, and to answer your question about the African rift lake cichlids, even if you had a big enough tank, they're not compatible with the cichlids you already have. New world cichlids (what you have) require completely opposite water conditions than African rift lake cichlids. Plus there's a big size difference between the GT's and the africans so the africans would eventually get eaten.

If you can't get a bigger/more tanks (either a 75 and 55, or a 100+) within the next 2 - 3 months, you should seriously consider returning most of those fish.
