Has anyone else had a cat do this? My daughter's cat used to be good about using the litter box,but now she has started urinating over the drain in their shower, and doing the "other" in her litter box! What would cause that? How can she break her of this? Thanks,Nano.

I would have a UTI ruled out which seems to be a common cause for cats urinating outside of the litterbox. Once health problems are ruled out, adding a second litter box might help. Some cats are really funny about their litterboxes and refuse to use them if they are the least bit dirty.
Just a few thoughts...I'm sure other posters with have more suggestions for you.

Is this the same cat that has diabetes?

I've heard of a lot of cats that seem to prefer peeing over the shower drain

Hi, the cat Im talking about is a siamese cat, but not the same one with diabetes. My Tiffany is diabetic 10 yr. old, and my daughter Jen's is I'm guessing, about 1 1/2yr. old. Thank-you for all your helpful hints, I will call her tomorrow and give her the info! She has really been stumped by this. I have had similar problems, but with male cats, and it was 1 in particular that would go in my son's closet and "poop" on his shoe! Nano
