    Dog that got a repreive

Im happy the dog did not have to be euthanized as in this case that seems a little extreme but sometimes I just cant keep quiet and have to give my opinion, the owners of the dog that was bitten should not have waited a few days before taking it into the vet unless the injuries were so minor that they didnt think a vet was really necessary and to be honest with a bill of only $34 it does seem as though they were just 'out on a crusade' or looking for an easy lawsuit, but as for the owners of the Malamute, the dog is a liability, it has a history of attacking other dogs, granted they have taken the dog to a trainer and put up the 6 foot fence but obviously they are not being careful enough as the dog got out. You cant take chances like that and I know because I have had a couple of dogs, rescues that I didnt want to see euthanized, that have been dog aggressive and one that was extremely aggressive towards people, but saying that I dont leave them outside, they were crated if there was no one home, they were trained and socialized so the problems they had diminished a lot. But Ive seen it from the other side too, I worked at an emergency hospital for many years and its heartbreaking to see dogs that were in their own back yards or were on a leash going for a walk and someone elses loose dog tore them to pieces. Dont get me wrong I have every respect for anyone who adopts a 'hard to place' dog especially were aggression is involved but I really think the owners need to be more careful because the next time an 'innocent' dog could be killed and they could be paying off a lawsuit for the rest of their lives.
