dachshunds with hernia help

I have a female with an umbilical hernia that has gotten worse. I know the dangers of these however right now I cant afford to get it operated on. The hospital wont take a post dated check for thursday so I have to wait till tuesday to have the surgery (which would give me time for the funds to get available). She seems like she is in a lot of pain. What can i give her to calm her down and/or relieve some pain. She weighs 15 pounds.

 

Umbilical hernia's are typically caused from injury during whelping. Keeping her calm and not allowing her to jump around and strain is about the only thing you can do. I'd also try calling around and seeing if there's a veterinarian or low cost animal clinic in your area that would take a post dated check or payment plan.
