maybe you can help. Wylie tore her dew claw again :( :( , I feel so bad because I told my husband this week-end we need to trim them because they are an accident waiting to happen,I know better, well I forgot and last night we were playing fetch and guess what! she did it, so the meat is completely away from the nail. I have alwasy taken her to the vet, . Well I cleaned it with peroxide and bandaged it.

Should I take her to the vet, I cant remember if they trim away the meat and claw? ouch just thinking about that makes me cringe. I guess the more I think about it I will take her in, because I think they have to cut it, because then how does it heal? it would have to grow out and then she would injure hereself again

sigh, they probably think I amone of those people that purposely inflict injury for atttentiosn since she in so much due to accidents.

    my poor girl

Ouch.....I can honestly say that of all the things I could think of were I might think someone was deliberatley injuring their pet for attention....a dew claw injury would not be on my list. :)

I do think you should take her to see the vet, she might require having it bandaged until its healed and infection is always a possibilitiy.

I wouldnt use Hydrogen Peroxide on it though to clean it, it promotes bleeding and can actually damage surrounding healthy tissue, its okay if its diluted 50% with water as a one off though.

thanks Delauk, I normally dont use peroxide, but since I could just pour it on without making a mess. I will take her in I just herself making it worse if I dont

we have talked alot about having them removed, her right one is now deformed and goes outward making it more vulnerable to future injury. this time it was her left. I feel like I have an accident prone child, lets see, this is like the 5th time for this, they grow like a weed, her fractured toe, her cut pad thats happened a few times, a strained shoulder, not to mention getting attacked by coyotes,
