Dividing the 10 gallon

So as i told you earlier we were planning on taking our ten gallon and dividing it for our betta and another one.
While researching about different ways to divide aquairums i found a really simple cheap way so we chose to divide it in three sections.
It was just set up today. There is only one betta in the middle part but two more bettas and about 6 mystery snails will go in the sides on the weekend.

very cool i have been think of doing this as well but with glass and silcone

 

Sorry i still cant get a good picture. Im using a cheap digital camera and my cell phone and the keep coming out pretty blurry.
Yesterday we got a couple snails and the other two bettas.
We now have a dark blue betta, a white and purple one, and our red one.

Nice. How are the dividers secured?

Also, you might want to make sure the dividers go pretty much all the way up to the lid or keep the water level down a couple inches. Bettas are notorious for jumping over dividers.

We used plastic canvas and plastic project binders (you can use them on posters too to help weight them down..) The dividers go all the way to the top of the tank. The water doesnt even flow over them. We put a dab of silicone at the top to secure it, and used the weight of the rocks to keep them straight along the bottom. Its working out really well.

The bettas were flaring up at each other quite a bit, but they've all calmed down now and seem to be used to one another. They're all really active and swimming around a lot. Its a nice environment for three deserving bettas.
