Do bulldog breeds suffer from depression

I am having trouble knowing if my american bulldog is ill. He is acting less "frisky" than normal, somewhat depressed-like, but is still eating, drinking, going to the bathroom, etc.

Physically he seems fine as well: clear eyes, clear clean ears, damp nose, pink mouth, normal breathing.

I gave him a bath and toweled him off and brought him inside. He has been exhibiting some trembling since the bath although it is not cold and he is now dry. I have wrapped him in a blanket and he is sleeping comfortably and the trembling has just about stopped.

I guess my question is, could he simply be sad/depressed because we have out of town company and have not been able to spend as much time with him as we normally do?

Hi Jon, I think dogs are just like us some days they get up and just don't really feel good. I think just laying around and being lazy is normal. But if he keeps shaking you might want to have him checked out, just to be safe.

i forget the term..speration anxiety????.but most def. not just bully breeds. most dogs. they are just like children.

long periods of lack of attention can cause your doggie friend to act depressed/restless...even cause him/her to act out(do things they normally wouldn't do).
